Novak: “I didn’t celebrate the way I wanted”

Iraqi boy, 10, eludes security to board Iran-bound plane
Iraqi aviation authorities have been left red-faced after a 10-year-old boy on his own boarded an Iran-bound plane from the international airport in Najaf city after several security checks. The airport authorities said Wednesday they would review security after the boy passed under the radar of seven checks, mixing in with large crowds of travelers. The child was only intercepted after boarding an Iran Air-chartered aircraft, airport manager Hikmat Ahmed told AFP. About five hours after his arrival at the airport on Monday night, “the plane crew contacted us about him,” he said. “Anyone who failed in their duties will be sanctioned, fired or transferred” after an investigation, the official said. According to a security source, his parents who live in a district near the airport had informed police of his disappearance. Air Serbia will use the new ATR 72-600 airplanes
Air Serbia said on Wednesday that it is bringing in more ATR aircraft for its regional fleet with plans to complete the renewal by the end of the year. “Fleet renewal is one of the most significant strategic decisions and Air Serbia is capitalizing on current favourable market conditions regarding aircraft availability. We are starting with our turbo prop fleet and replacing all ATR 72-200s, of which we currently have three in the fleet, as well as two ATR 72-500 airplanes, with state-of-the-art ATR 72-600 during the upcoming period. This will significantly increase our operational efficiency, as well as service provided to passengers. Our ambition is to continue to develop further as a regional leader and upgraded turbo prop fleet is an essential step on this path,” a press release quoted Air Serbia CEO Jiri Marek as saying, writes N1. The first of those aircraft is due to fly from Toulouse to Belgrade on Thursday, marking the start of the fleet renewal. Association says short skirts could be distracting drivers and causing accidents Kampala: A traders association in northern Uganda has banned women from riding up front in trucks after deciding that short skirts and bare thighs could be distracting drivers and causing accidents. The order handed down in Lira city prohibits drivers from permitting “even their wives” in the front cabin of lorries. An association representing local traders and vendors said the decision banning female passengers was made in the name of safety. “Some of them wear short dresses which expose their thighs and distract drivers, and the drivers end up causing accidents and people on board die,” Patrick Opio Obote, chairman of Lira’s mobile market vendors group, said. “The ban takes immediate effect and all drivers and passengers are complying.”Obote said the decision was taken after examining the cause of road accidents in the area involving truck drivers. “We discovered other than high speed and indiscipline of truck drivers, some women sit in front cabin while wearing short dresses, some take the drivers to bars and drink alcohol and the drivers end up causing accidents,” he said. Novak Djokovic: Tennis star to be deported after losing Australia visa battle
Novak Djokovic is set to be deported from Australia after losing a last-ditch court bid to stay in the country. Judges rejected his challenge to the government’s decision to cancel the unvaccinated player’s visa on “health and good order” grounds.
